Belevi Mousoleum
This
monumental tomb which is located in the district of Belevi
at the east of the road intersection 12 km from Seljuk on
the Izmir highway, is the second largest and second
highest monument in Anatolia after the Mosoleum of
Halikarnassos. The monument was never completed. Due to
the oriental elements in the structure, we can date it
back to the Hellenistic period. Latest research has shown
that the monument was built for Lysimakhos but used in the
name of King Antiokhos II who died in Ephesus in 246 A.D.
